248. The Imperative Form of the Verb (I)
The Imperative form of the verb is used when an order or command is given. Usually this means that the 2nd person form of the verb is used although we can use the Imperative in the 1st person plural ('we' form) if we say .... 'let us' go, or 'let's do' something. First, let's look at the regular verb forms in German ...
Regular Verbs (incl. Irregular Verbs that are regular in Present Tense for like 'kommen')
du machst - the 'st' is dropped & sometimes we see it with an 'e' ..
Mach nicht soviel Krach!
Bitte, spiel mit deinem Bruder.
Hans, komm doch her
Verbs ending in 'den' 'ten' and 'nen' usually have an 'e'
Bade schnell im Fluss!
Arbeite fleißig und du wirst Erfolg haben!
Zeichne mal eine Kuh und ein Pferd!
ihr macht ... simply uses the 'ihr' form of the verb
Bitte, bringt eure CDs zur Party!
Mama, Papa, kauft uns bitte Schokoladen!
Kinder lest doch ruhig diese Gedichte!
